Sam Darnold drinks in the middle of his rookie season.

The New York Jets' quarterback has a shoe on the right foot and is wearing a city suit during Wednesday's training, the team said. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network Insider, Darnold is suffering from a sprained foot, which will avoid him for Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills. Rapoport adds that Darnold will be re-evaluated weekly after week 11 of the team's leave.

The No. 3 overall pick was defeated in the week-long Jets defeat in Miami and said after the match that he was shot.

"Yes, I feel good, some bumps and bruises, but everything is fine," Darnold said Monday. via Manish Mehta from the New York Daily News.

Wednesday, he was in a walking boot.

The youngest NFL quarterback to start the season had a rough season. He sometimes looks like a man, effectively dodging rushers and making punctual throws. At other times, he struggled to see the defenders, making 14 steals in nine games.

After Darnold's departure, veteran Josh McCown is ready to take the start against a good Buffalo defense.
