SACRAMENTO – Run, rifle.
The Kings continue to challenge the odds early in the 2018-19 season. Friday night at Golden 1 Center, they hit the Minnesota Timberwolves hard in the third quarter, then held off for a 121-110 victory.
In front of a sold-out crowd, the Kings broke a two-game losing streak and moved to 1-1 on the current homestand.
Here are six notes as the Kings have improved to 7-5 on the season.
Big Bigs
Sometimes the numbers are confusing. Karl-Anthony Towns organized a huge party against his former teammate Willie Cauley-Stein. The cities did everything in 39 points and 19 rebounds in 40 minutes. He also lost the match and got a negative score of five in the plus-minus category.
Cauley-Stein, meanwhile, managed to score 25 points and five rebounds in 29 minutes. He nearly fouled, but his team was victorious and he was even over-under.
Double double
De'Aaron Fox continues to shine at the beginning of the season for Sacramento. He did not show huge offensive numbers against veteran Derrick Rose, but he still had an impact on the game.

Nemanja Bjelica played three seasons in Minnesota before joining the Kings this summer. He caught fire in the third quarter and lit up his old team, scoring 10 of his 14th quarter points.
He was shot, ran to the bench and imploring the crowd to get up and cheer. It was a rare sign of emotion on the part of the Serbian attacker.
Good iman / bad iman
Iman Shumpert is always an adventure. Some nights he can not find the bucket. In other games, he looks like a cold sniper of the perimeter. Against Minnesota, he did both.
In a top-down game, the veteran scored 17 points on 5 out of 16 shots, including 4 out of 11 long distance shots. His defense limited Jimmy Butler to 13 points on three out of 12 shots, and Shumpert scored a plus-11 for the match.
Buddy Hield arrives late
Over the course of three quarters, Hield was 2 -8 on the court with a lot of points (four) in personal foul. In the fourth, he did what he did at almost every game of the season and put the ball in the basket.
