Minnesota Timberwolves guard Jimmy Butler is demanding an exchange and his three favorite destinations are the Brooklyn Nets, LA Clippers and New York Knicks, sources told Adrian Wojnarowski.

These three teams have the maximum salary cap to sign Butler as a free agent in July.

Athletic first reported Butler's commercial request.

Timberwolves coach and basketball coach Tom Thibodeau was scheduled to meet Butler in Los Angeles this week, sources told Wojnarowski. The meeting was to be a serious conversation about the fragile state of the franchise, sources said.

Now Butler seems to be looking for his way out of Minnesota.

The relationship between Thibodeau and Butler has been very strong since The Chicago Bulls drafted Butler in 2011, but Butler's partnership with young star Karl-Anthony Towns was tense and may have prevented the Timberwolves from signing a new contract with Butler next summer, sources said.

Minnesota may offer Butler a five-year, up to $ 189.7 million contract with a maximum four-year contract of $ 140.6 million.

In 2017, the Timberwolves traded against Butler, sending Chicago a package of Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn and a # 7 overall pick that turned into Lauri Markkanen.
