The Miami Heat ended trade talks with Jimmy Butler, the upset Minnesota Timberwolves star, at least for now.
According to numerous sources, the Heat reportedly confirmed that basketball operations president Pat Riley had told players that the franchise was not currently seeking a contract with the All-Star striker. However, this could change in the future:
The Heat would have been the only team to show strong interest in the 29-year-old veteran. Miami spent weeks discussing an exchange with the Timberwolves, with the largest commercial offering apparently including Josh Richardson, Bam Adebayo and a first-round pick. According to some sources, however, the T-Wolves have made fun of this deal as it appears that Minnesota is expecting a large-scale deal for their franchise star.
We all know that Butler and the Timberwolves want to pass each other as quickly as possible, but the Wolves will not accept any agreement on the table. It seems that the Heat has been sufficiently frustrated by the lack of progress in trade negotiations that Riley is now using his own trading tactics to get his name off the table.
Heck, the endless discussions on trade between the two parties have given rise to interesting reports.

"The medical exams were exchanged, which usually means, in the NBA, that everything is done, and then Thibs called back and wanted more choice, and Pat Riley literally – I'm told – stated that he was the grandfather and hung up.
For what it's worth Riley immediately denied the report, saying that he has too much respect for Thibodeau to call him such a name.
The Timberwolves clearly want an agreement that matches the value of their two-way superstar. The problem is that they may have no takers if they continue to meet the asking price.
