It is still too early to tell if Yankees general manager Brian Cashman made the right or wrong choices with these two controversial decisions from the directors who followed a fun baseball season in 2017.
We may not have the answer for years.
Certainly, the decision to send the proven winner Joe Girardi after a long and surprising playoff run with a youth club was brave. Hiring Aaron Boone as a successor without any coaching or management experience was as risky as anything Cashman did. his two decades of managing Yanks.

Motivation
Managers do not give speeches to teams before matches.
This is not football.
Boone definitely motivates his players with a few words here and there in the cage before the matches, in the shelter during games and on the mound when he makes throwing changes.
And as we mentioned earlier, Boone is still pushing his players by telling them, several times (during face-to-face interviews and in the media), that this team has the means to win the World Series this year.
