Joe Girardi has withdrawn his name from the candidacy for the position of Cincinnati Reds director, according to several reports.
Girardi, 54, was one of three candidates selected for a second interview, with Brad Ausmus and David Bell.
The athlete, who has announced Girardi's withdrawal for the first time, announced Friday that he intends to stay with the MLB network for now but still wants to get by.
Girardi also reportedly interviewed for the vacant Texas Ranger leadership position.
Girardi, who has a 15-year career in the game, has 988-794 visits in 11 seasons as a major league coach, including 10 seasons with the New York Yankees, which he directed to World Series titles in 2009.
He spent last season at the MLB after being fired by the Yankees following the 2017 season, while he was leading the Yankees to the American League championship series. The Yankees lost to the Houston Astros, winners of the World Series, in seven games.
Girardi also managed the Florida Marlins in 2006.
