Joe Mauer announced his retirement from baseball after 15 seasons with the Minnesota Twins.
"After careful consideration, I decided to stop playing baseball," he wrote in a letter to fans posted on MLB.com. "This decision was made by my health and that of my family. this season after missing more than 30 games following a dive for a foul.
