John Legend, Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber earned the special Emmy for Outstanding Variety (Live) on Sunday night for their work on Jesus Christ Superstar Live In Concertso all three join the distinguished list of EGOT winners. The trio of composers won the Creative Arts Emmys Award, which rewarded them as executive producers on NBC's live musical. Legend, who becomes the first black man to join the coveted EGOT list, won the Best Oscar Award for the original song in 2015 for writing Selma"Glory" and got his Tony in 2017 when he produced Broadway's revival of jitney. He has also won 10 Grammys (out of 28 nominations in total), with his first wins in 2005. Rice won three Oscars and he and Lloyd Webber jointly won the Best Oscar Award for the original song in 1996. Among the EGOT winners are Rita Moreno, Audrey Hepburn, Mel Brooks and Helen Hayes.
