John McClain's NFL Power Rankings: Week 7

The Rams are still No. 1 overall, but there is a new leader in the AFC South. John McClain's weekly power rankings:

1. L.A. Rams (6-0) | Last week: 1

The last undefeated team leads the NFL in total offense, including first in rushing. They try to make it seven in a row at San Francisco.

2. New England (4-2) | Last week: 4

After their 1-2 start, the Patriots have won three consecutive games. They return to the road to play the Bears at Soldier Field.

3. New Orleans (4-1) | Last week: 3

The Saints are coming off their open date. They travel to Baltimore. The Ravens are coming off an 11-sack game against Tennessee.

4. Kansas City (5-1) | Last week: 2

Thanks to rookie quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs have the fourth-best offense in the league, but their defense is 32nd.

5. L. A. Chargers (4-2) | Last week: 10

The Chargers have not defeated a team that currently has a winning record. Their victories have been over teams that are a combined 6-17-1.

6. Pittsburgh (3-2-1) | Last week: 11

The Steelers are off. They can not get back Le'Veon Bell. James Conner is fifth in rushing with 453 yards to go with seven touchdowns.

7. Baltimore (4-2) | Last week: 15

The Ravens bounced back from their overtime loss at Cleveland to earn a shutout victory at Tennessee. New Orleans and Carolina are next.

8. Cincinnati (4-2) | Last week: 5

The Bengals lost a heartbreaker at home to Pittsburgh, but they are still tied to the Ravens for first place in the AFC North.

9. Minnesota (3-2-1) | Last week: 12

The Vikings have a difficult road game against the Jets. Minnesota is trying to build a three-game winning streak before it plays the Saints.

10. Green Bay (3-2-1) | Last week: 13

Aaron Rodgers led the packers to a San Francisco victory on Monday night. After the bye, they visit the Rams and Patriots.

11. Miami (4-2) | Last week: 16

Brock Osweiler, the Dolphins broke a two-game losing streak by winning at Chicago in overtime.

12. Washington (3-2) | Last week: 18

After beating Carolina, they're in first place in the NFC East. If they lose at home to Dallas, they'll fall out of first place.

13. Chicago (3-2) | Last week: 6

The Bears lost at Miami. They host New England. The Jets and Buffalo are next. That's four games in a row against teams from the AFC East.

14. Carolina (3-2) | Last week: 7

The Panthers are coming off a loss at Washington. They're trying to stay close to New Orleans in the NFC South. They play at Philadelphia.

15. Philadelphia (3-3) | Last week: 20

Their victory over the Giants enabled the Eagles to even their record. They'll try to make it two in a row against Carolina.

16. Seattle (3-3) | Last week: 17

The Legion of Boom is history, but the Seahawks are third in pass defense, and they've intercepted the league-high nine passes.

17. Houston (3-3) | Last week: 19

After an 0-3 start, the Texans take a three-game winning streak to Jacksonville. They're tied for first place in the AFC South.

18. Dallas (3-3) | Last week: 23

When fans were ready to write about the Cowboys and Dak Prescott, they put up 40 on the Jaguars. They play Washington for first place in the NFC East.

19. Jacksonville (3-3) | Last week: 9

The Jaguars have suffered back-to-back losses against Kansas City and Dallas, allowing an average of 35 points. Next up are the Texans.

20. N.Y. Jets (3-3) | Last week: 25

In their three wins, the Jets average 41.3 points. In their three losses, they average 13.6. They're trying for a three-game winning streak.

21. Atlanta (2-4) | Last week: 27

The Falcons snapped their three-game losing streak by defeating Tampa Bay. They're still in last place in the NFC South.

22. Tennessee (3-3) | Last week: 8

The Titans have lost two games in a row and did not score a touchdown. They were shut out by Baltimore. They play the Chargers in London.

23. Cleveland (2-3-1) | Last week: 14

After upsetting the Ravens in Cleveland, the Browns hosted the Chargers and got demolished. They return to the road against Tampa Bay.

24. Detroit (2-3) | Last week: 24

After getting the weekend off to rest, the Lions still find themselves in the last place in the NFC North. Their next game is at Miami.

25. Tampa Bay (2-3) | Last week: 21

The Bucs have a three-game losing streak going into their home game against Cleveland. Defensive coordinator Mike Smith was fired this week.

26. Denver (2-4) | Last week: 22

The Broncos have a four-game losing streak. In their last two losses to the Jets and Rams, they've allowed a stunning 593 yards rushing.

27. Buffalo (2-3) | Last week: 26

After dominating the Texans' offense in a 20-13 defeat, the Bills are third in defense of their game at Indianapolis.

28. N.Y. Giants (1-5) | Last week: 28

The woeful Giants have yet another nationally televised game Monday night at Atlanta. Eli Manning continues to regress to pass.

29. Oakland (1-5) | Last week: 29

The Raider has had a total of 40 points in their last two losses. After their bye, they return to the Colts and 49ers.

30. Indianapolis (1-5) | Last week: 31

The Colts have a four-game losing streak. They've been decimated by injuries. They will try to beat Buffalo at home in their next game.

31. San Francisco (1-5) | Last week: 32

The 49ers has been pulled up at Green Bay before losing 33-30 Monday night. Their next game is against the unbeaten Rams.

32. Arizona (1-5) | Last week: 30

In Steve Wilks' first season as coach, the Cardinals are 31st in scoring and 32nd in offense. They are last in rushing and 31st in run defense.
