For at least a year, people linked to Fantastic Beasts: The Grindelwald Crimes asked questions about the inclusion of Johnny Depp in the franchise, through lawsuits against Mr. Depp and allegations of his former Amber Heard. Johnny Depp explained how the creative team and the creative team had to come forward and defend the decision to do so. He said in a recent interview:

Also on the set of this film, Johnny Depp was accused of hitting a member of the team, which also resulted in a lawsuit. It is only recently that Depp settled the dispute over the money.
Now, Depp seems to relay remorse for his bleeding personal life in his professional life.
In the interview given to EW, Jonny Depp also spoke about J.K. Rowling, who was previously to defend herself, explains why she made this decision:

Johnny Depp does not play a big role in fantastic beasts and where to find them. Instead, his character Grindelwald hides under the name of Graves, played by Colin Farrell. It is only in the last minutes of the film that the characters of Graves are removed from their functions and that we meet for the first time the real Grindelwald. however, Fantastic Beasts: The Grindelwald Crimes will focus more on the character, as well as on the popular Harry Potter character, Albus Dumbledore, played by Jude Law during this iteration.
