The Oakland Raiders struggled in their first two games, scoring just two sacks in the 0-2 start. Head coach Jon Gruden ironically attributed the quality of the staff to the list.
"It's hard to find a good smuggler," Gruden said on Wednesday. Vic Tafur of athletics.
The Raiders had obviously made an excellent performance at Khalil Mack, but he was traded to the Chicago Bears before the start of the regular season after the two sides failed to agree on a new deal .
Mack had already proven himself in the past by winning three Pro Bowl selections and the Defensive Player of the Year title in 2016, but he has been as good as expected since joining the Bears.
In two games, the linebacker has two sacks, two forced fumbles and one interception returned for a touchdown.
Yet the lack of success to start the year did not make Gruden guess his moves.
"That does not make me regret the trade, "said coach Monday, by Paul Gutierrez from ESPN.
The pressure is now on the remaining Raiders players to try to replace the lost production of betraying Mack. Bruce Irvin, Frostee Rucker and Arden Key will all have the task of creating more pressure on the opposing quarter to help the team turn things around.
Otherwise, Gruden hopes to be able to use the picks acquired in the trade to find the next big smuggler.
