Lopez joined Kansas City only a few months ago in a job that sent Mike Moustakas to Milwaukee.
Kansas City Royals starter Jorge Lopez lost three times in a perfect match on Saturday, before the Twins beat him in the ninth inning.
Lopez was perfect to get into ninth place with only 100 shots. He pushed Max Kepler to the lead but remained hooked to a non-hitter. Robbie Grossman turned to downtown during the next session to end the Lopez party.
As he left the mound, the Target Field crowd gave Lopez a standing ovation. If Lopez had accomplished this feat, it would be only the 24th perfect match in the history of the major league, according to MLB.com.
In his seventh league start, Lopez shot 110 shots with 68 shots en route to the Royals' victory over the Twins.
Written by the Brewers in the second round of the 2011 draft, Lopez made his Major League debut with Milwaukee in September 2015.
In 10 games with the Brewers this year, Lopez eliminated 15 shots on goal with an ERA of 2.75 in 19.2 innings pitched.
Before the trade deadline, the Royals traded third baseman Mike Moustakas with the Brewers, receiving Lopez and minor league Brett Phillips in exchange. On August 14, the Royals recalled Lopez from the AAA Omaha class to start against the Blue Jays.
Lopez entered Saturday's game with a 5.66 ERA in 20.2 innings pitched in his last four games.
