Astros star Jose Altuve was operated on the right knee on Friday, according to a report by MLB.com, citing an unidentified source.

Altuve played the injury series but has been limited to DH's duties in the last three games of the ALCS, where the Astros have fallen into the hands of the Red Sox.

Astros manager A.J. Hinch told reporters that Altuve would not have been in training if it was not the playoffs.

"He's injured, if it's another time of year, he's not playing," said Hinch before the final match of the ALCS. "He would probably be on the DL."

Altuve, who suffered knee injuries throughout the season, finished 2018 with a draw line of .36 / .386 / .451 in 137 games. He hit 13 homers and collected 61 RBIs.

The star player six times went 9 to 34 with a home run and four RBIs in eight playoff games.
