Josh Chan of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is a bit worse

He may have been the original object of Rebecca Bunch's affections, but he is by far the least interesting of his amorous interests.

The first season 4 of Crazy ex-girlfriend illuminated many things about her characters, including forgetting Rebecca for her privilege, Nathaniel's intensity and lack of sensitivity to Rebecca's mental health issues, and even Valencia's perfect comic timing.

Unfortunately, it also recalled that Josh Chan continued to be a silly loser with no career prospects and living with his best friend's mother. Let's thank the Rom-com gods that Rebecca finally figured out how bad Josh was and went on to better guys.

Let's assemble Rebecca's love interests for more than three seasons of Crazy ex-girlfriend:

1.) Nathaniel, who has become a better person just because of his feelings for Rebecca and who has been given the most emotional depth of all his potential

2.) Greg, a too negative alcoholic who at least has always been good to Rebecca and was such a good lover that he gave her a urinary tract infection (that's how it works, right?). Side note: It's pretty depressing that this is Rebecca's second healthiest relationship on this show.

3.) This type with which Rebecca has been maintained in the first appears again in "We Tapped That Ass".

5.) Robert, Harvard's teacher, Rebecca, had an affair with which she tried to burn the apartment, which allowed her to recognize for the first time her mental health problems.

6.) Trent, the man who harassed Rebecca, made her sing and forced her to push him off the roof because he was threatening Nathaniel's life.

That's right: Josh is only slightly ahead of Rebecca's most unhealthy relationship and the man who actively terrorized her. It may seem hard because Josh Chan is not really a bad person. And Vincent Rodriguez III is a decent actor who does his best to add layers to a surface character deliberately at the surface since the very first days of the series.

Josh at his best is a human puppy: fun, loving and loyal. It was logical in Crazy ex-girlfriend"In the first few seasons, Rebecca would be attracted to someone who represents the sunnier, simpler side of life she so desires.

But now, Rebecca has gone through a lot of emotional ups and downs and has emerged as a more mature and complete person. That's why his relationship with Nathaniel makes more sense at this point in the series than trying to force sparks between her and Josh again. Nathaniel is more sensitive to his emotional wavelength than Josh could hope for.

He emphasized how hopeless he was at the premiere of Season 4 of the series, in which he had spent the whole episode attributing his stupidity and self-absorption to some sort of "trouble" of which he must suffer. All the misfortunes that struck him could not be due to his fault, so it is probably because of a ghost disease that he was not aware of all his life.

It's clear from this story that Josh did not learn anything after all this time. While Rebecca has shown real and tangible growth in her character Crazy ex-girlfriendJosh stopped and, in many ways, regressed for the kid that Rebecca fell in love with the camp so many years ago. This child is now an adult who knows how to function in modern society.

To his credit, Josh has proven himself more than the music numbers of the show. He is a talented dancer. His most impressive performance is coming, when Valencia and they broke their old routine they nicknamed "The Royal".

Josh certainly has a place in this series, but it is not a romantic interest for those looking for a partner that they can take seriously, professionally or personally.

Sorry buddy: You have stopped being adorable a long time ago. Now, it's just sad.
