Josh Fauver, the former Deerhunter member who served as a bassist during the Georgia band's rise to indie rock celebrity, died at the age of 39.
Deerhunter revealed on social media that Fauver was dead; a representative of the group confirmed the death. No cause of death has been announced.
"Very difficult times now," wrote Deerhunter on Instagram with a group photo – Fauver included – in their formative years.
Fauver played bass at Deerhunter from 2005 – he joined the band after the death of Deerhunter's first bassist, Justin Bosworth, in 2004, from injuries he suffered in a skateboard accident – until 2012, and played on four of his albums: The debut in 2005 Turn the Fagot, 2007 cryptograms, Double album of 2008 Microcastle/Strange time Cont. and 2010 Halcyon Digest.
Fauver is also credited as co-author of the Microcastle He notably put forward "Nothing Ever Happened", which he wrote alongside the leader Bradford Cox.
After a tour in support of Halcyon Digest, Fauver is separated from Deerhunter.
