Washington cornerback Josh Norman was on the bench during the humiliating defeat of the Saints last night.

Then it got worse.

Saints Wide receiver Michael Thomas started following Norman on Twitter and did not stop. He called it "corner of the zone" and claimed that he intended to "harass" him the rest of his career.

Before the taunts started, Norman was replaced in the second half by rookie Greg Stroman, who dropped a long touchdown. Norman came back into the game after this series.

"We talked about some things at half-time," said coach Jay Gruden, via Kareem Copeland of Washington Post. "I had to calm him down a bit. Everything is fine. The situation will return to normal and he will play the rest of the year. "

The high price was unobtrusive about the decision.

"I leave everything to the head coach," Norman said. "No matter what Jay said, that's what we're going to do. I have nothing else to say on the matter.

"At the end of the day, yes, I am a fierce competitor. Never want to go out. . . . But whatever the head coach says, I want one. It's the chain of command. He is in charge. . . . I respect the manager.

Washington seemed to be having trouble communicating, as an exploded cover left Norman playing in the apartment while Tre & Quan Smith deviated for a 62-yard touchdown (the one that gave Drew Brees the all-court record to the pass). Gruden called the cover problem an absolute embarrassment.

Of course, it might have been after the match, when Thomas started talking. After Thomas had addressed the subject, Norman responded by saying that Thomas had not caught him, calling him "blocking lure". Thomas fought back:

Overall, it was a tough night for Washington in general, but for Norman in particular.
