(NASA) – This image of NASA's Juno spacecraft captures a multitude of beautiful swirling clouds in Jupiter's dynamic north-north temperate belt. Several bright white "pop-up" clouds, as well as an anticyclonic storm, called white oval, appear in the scene.

This image with optimized colors was taken at 13:58. PDT 29 October 2018 (16:58 EDT) as the spacecraft made its 16th close flyby of Jupiter.

At that time, Juno was about 7,400 kilometers (4,400 miles) from the top of the planet's cloud at a latitude of about 40 degrees north.

Citizen scientists Gerald Eichstädt and Seán Doran created this image using data from the probe's JunoCam imager.

JunoCam's raw images are available to the public for viewing and processing as ICI image products.
