The screen legend, Julie Andrews, will invade the movie theaters at Christmas, but it will not be next to Emily Blunt on Cherry Tree Lane.
Curiously, Andrews will play a key role in "Aquaman", the hope of the DC Films franchise and Warner Bros. directed by Jason Momoa.
Karathen, the star of the song "Sound of Music", will be one of the creators of the mythical sea that helps the heroic broker of Momoa to establish peace between Atlantis and the mainland, said an individual familiar with the project Variety.
"Aquaman" will open December 21, two days before the release of "Mary Poppins Returns", when Blunt will assume a role created by Andrews in the 1964 Disney classic (for which she won the Oscar for best actress).
The news was first reported by Entertainment Weekly.
"We wanted Karathen to have the voice of a classic British actress, albeit slightly digitally altered," said Peter Safran, producer at "Aquaman".
"And when we found out that Julie was interested, available, and excited about throwing her, throwing it was obvious," he said.
Andrews has regularly booked vocal work over the last few years in such successful animated series as "Shrek" and "Despicable Me." She has not appeared on screen since the 2010 Tooth Fairy family comedy starring Dwayne Johnson.
Andrews is relaunched by WME and the Media Four management company.
