Julie Chen, the wife of former CBS CEO Leslie Moonves, suppressed tears by saying goodbye to the television series of The Talk.
"Currently, I have to spend more time at home with my husband and our young son," Chen said in a recorded video at the end of Tuesday's show. "I decided to leave the talk."
"I love you all and I know that this show and the fraternity that this represents will last many more years," she said in front of her co-organizers.
Chen had been absent from the show since the first season of September 10th.
"We are grateful for her many other contributions, respect her decision and wish Julie all the best in everything she does," CBS said in an email.
The day series, broadcast on the CBS network and produced by CBS Television, includes discussions of current issues. Chen, 48, found herself in a difficult situation when her husband entered the news.
Leslie Moonves left the company earlier this month after a string of allegations of sexual misconduct by women Moonves had worked with during her career. CBS hired two law firms to investigate the claims. Moonves has denied any wrongdoing.
Sharon Osbourne, co-host of "The Talk", had initially supported Moonves on the air and then was brought up against him on the show.
"The man has a problem," said Osbourne.
Chen will continue with another series of CBS "Big Brother", according to the source, although the finale of the show is next week.
Chen worked at CBS in 1999 and married Leslie Moonves in 2004. She supported Moonves throughout the scandal by issuing a statement in June.
"I fully support my husband and I am behind him and his statement," she wrote.
She showed this support on Sunday, appearing on "Big Brother" for her usual homework and signed by adding her husband's name to his.
"Outside the Big Brother House … I'm Julie Chen Moonves," she said. "Good night."
