Kansas vs TCU score: Corned Frogs lose on an unfortunate fiasco, fall to last in Big 12

Kansas, for whatever reason, has always been a pain for TCU since it entered the Big 12. Finally, these close calls came back to bite the horned frogs in the buttocks.

The Jayhawks finally got a win against the Frogs – their first since 1997 – on a backstroke, among other things. It was a back-and-forth game from start to finish and a discreet alert to everyone. But since TCU was driving late in the fourth quarter and reached the red zone of Kansas, it seemed like it could bring another close win. However, down 27-24 and facing a goal and a goal on the 9-yard line with just over a minute late, running back Darius Anderson found himself in the back of one of his offensive players. The impact lost the ball and Kansas recovered. The Jayhawks would win a 27-26 win after taking security measures to try to escape. It ends a series of 14 conference losses for Kansas.

The fumble is an unfortunate ceiling of what has been a disastrous week for the TCU program. After a 52-27 loss to Oklahoma in Week Eight, coach Gary Patterson announced that starting quarterback Shawn Robinson was lost for the season after undergoing a shoulder operation. Patterson then fired KaVontae Turpin, the team-mate back, after learning that the senior had been arrested twice for physical assault on a family member.

Now, with a month remaining in the season, TCU is at the absolute bottom of the Big 12 standings. Getting three wins in the next four weeks to become eligible for the cup looks like an extremely heavy task. (In addition, the state of Ohio can no longer officially call the Frogs a quality win.)

Patterson has been the head coach of the TCU for almost two decades. During his tenure, the Frogs have enjoyed considerable historical success, ranging from a Rose Bowl victory to an ascent to the ranks of the Power Five. Patterson orchestrated 11 seasons of 10 wins in all. But, like all programs, TCU has its slack years. Except when the TCU falls, I'll be damned if it does not seem like crazy.
