Kanye West claims that he will teach a course at the Art Institute, the school says that this is not true

Kanye West fans rejoiced this week when the superstar rapper announced his intention to teach a class at the Art Institute of Chicago and the American Academy of Art, but the ceremony ended Monday.

West made the seemingly false statements during a tweet storm on Sunday, causing online chatter from social media users who encouraged the announcement and shared ideas about what the course would be like. Art should cover.

"We must be overwhelmed with love and inspiration," he tweeted. "I will give a course at the Chicago Art Institute and at the American Academy of Art."

Publications gained popularity online, racking up more than 233,000 likes and retweets, and nearly 2,000 comments on Twitter, but schools said the claims were false.

Representatives from the Art Institute of Chicago and the American Academy of Art told ABC's Chicago station, WLS, that there were no such plans.

The Public Relations Director of the Art Institute of Chicago, Bree Witt, also issued a statement on the subject.

"We are flattered that Mr. West has an interest in teaching emerging artists and designers at the Chicago Art Institute School," Witt told the Chicago Tribune on Monday. "However, Mr. West is not currently teaching at SAIC, and for the moment, he does not plan to do it."

It is unclear whether West, 41, intended to refer to another school or entity. ABC News could not immediately reach West's representatives.

The Chicago rapper made the headlines last week when he launched several tweets to tackle the lingering "confusion" about his quarrel with rapper Drake.

On Wednesday morning, he released nine Drake-related tweets in the space of 45 minutes, just hours after a music website aired an excerpt of a forthcoming Drake track that seemed insulting. West.

"Let me start by apologizing for setting foot on your release date," he wrote in another post. "When I put the dates, I was a little faster with 25 tweets a day [and] TMZ took place shortly thereafter, "he said, making an apparent reference to his pro-President Donald Trump's Twitter speech and his controversial speech about TMZ on slavery being" a choice ".

"I did not see the show in person, but the pictures are incredible online. I understand where the confusion started, "West wrote in another tweet. "I will come to your show in the next seven days to give love and be inspired by the art you have created."
