The winners of the inaugural pornography giant Pornhub have accepted giant trophies in the form of dildos, presented by a naked presenter, at the request of co-creator Kanye West.
The ceremony, held at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles, was held in 6918 and saw the artists custom phallic statuettes for categories, including the best female soloists and the best fetish performers. "Kanye has designed a tailor-made, tailor-made reward statue for each of tonight's unique categories," said a press release.
West and his creative company DONDA designed the show in collaboration with a long-time associate, Willo Perron, who has also been creative director for artists such as Jay-Z, St Vincent and the xx.
Western fashion label Yeezy dressed the presenters, who appeared on a set of large video screens featuring works by the transgressive American erotic director Richard Kern. The ceremony was broadcast in virtual reality on the Pornhub and West site.
West played at the event with Teyana Taylor, an R & B artist who signed with his label GOOD Music, Young MA, Blackbear and Dana Dentata. He also created a video clip directed by Spike Jonze for a new song called I Love It featuring rapper Lil Pump. The ceremony was organized by adult movie star Asa Akira.
Pornhub has granted West a free premium subscription life after mentioning the site during a recent Jimmy Kimmel Live! appearance. Asked by Kimmel, "Do you feel that your attitude towards women has changed since you had girls?" West replied, "No, I'm still watching Pornhub."
GOOD Music has released five albums this summer, including West's eighth solo album, Ye. Despite bad reviews, he became his eighth American album No 1. West is currently working on music with another Chicago artist, Chance the Rapper.
