Kanye West takes a much needed wait time on social media.
"Kanye got to the point where he realized that his rants were becoming unhealthy. That's why he deleted his account, "a source told PEOPLE after the rapper, 41, had erased his Twitter and Instagram accounts on Friday.
West, who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, recently revealed that he had stopped taking his medication as a result of his long speech in favor of Trump. Saturday Night Live and his controversial tweet about the 13th amendment.
"When he gets into these delusions on Twitter, it's very difficult to stop. It's like an obsession that affects his life. He knows it's not healthy, so he wants to reduce things a notch, "the source said.

His wife, Kim Kardashian West, also advised the star to take a break in the interest of their relationship and their children: their son Saint, two and a half years old and their daughters from the North, aged 5 and 8 month in Chicago.
"Kim agreed that it was time for him to pause on social media. She just wants him to focus a little on his family now, "said the source. "He can also better focus on his music and be creative when he avoids social media."

It's not the first time West has chosen to stop using social media.
He had already abandoned Twitter for almost a year, marking his comeback in April with a Twitter storm that ranged from Yeezy's lineage to his brother-in-law Lamar Odom. "
Despite his mental health problems, an insider recently told PEOPLE that Mr. West was still in place for his three children.
"Kanye is fine with children and there is no concern that he is close to his own children," the insider said. "He adores them and would never do anything to damage them."

The timing of his social media break may be due to a difficult anniversary approaching.
A source has already told people that West thought he was fighting "dark spiritual forces" who were "evil" and was fighting for the eleventh anniversary of the death of his mother Donda. Donda died of heart disease at the age of 58 in 2007 while he was suffering from "several postoperative factors" as a result of a plastic surgery operation.
"If you remember, it happened a year ago … almost exactly a year ago," said the insider about the controversial actions of the artist these last weeks. "This happens every fall as the anniversary of the death of his mother approaches."
