The milestone for the Prince of Wales was marked by an interview with Vanity Fair, a documentary, a book, two new portraits of Charles and his family – and the festivities will continue tonight, the very day of his birth, with a lavish party at Buckingham Palace.

Little has been revealed about the party, other than the fact that the evening will be held. Queen and the duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as well as a host of other European royals, according to the Daily mail: Crown Princess Mary and Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark, a number of Norwegian royals including King Harald and Queen Sonja, the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, and King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium.
