Kevin Feige says that MCU TV shows will be more like comics than movies

According to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, the upcoming MCU TV shows for Disney's streaming service will feel aesthetically closer to comics than movie adaptations. The new shows will provide Marvel Studios with a unique opportunity to explore long stories that will feel like a more traditional cartoon structure.

Marvel Studios is currently developing a number of derivative spin-offs for Disney's streaming service. These shows should be produced with budgets representing half the cost of movies in the MCU, and they will feature characters directly from Marvel films. Elizabeth Olsen and Tom Hiddleston resuming their respective roles of Scarlet Witch and Loki will be part of the first series announced. Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie will also be present. their roles together as Winter Soldier and Falcon, respectively. Feige has now given a clearer glimpse of the great plan he has for his upcoming shows – at least from a narrative point of view.

Although Marvel Studios retains plot-specific details for upcoming shows, Feige explained what the audience should expect from the narrative. During one of the THR Feige compared the narrative structure of the new TV shows to campfire stories, saying: "As many people as you can bypass the campfire and tell stories.Campfires may be different: we will tell stories for the streaming service that we could not tell in a theatrical experience." He then added that this new approach would ultimately feel more in line with the structure of the comics story on which these series will be based. He said:

"A longer story; that's what comics are. It's a story as long as it exists. But also to keep this theatrical experience, which is our daily bread, and the lines around the block, if you're lucky. "

According to Feige, the upcoming series will give Marvel Studios a unique opportunity to bring the MCU closer to its roots in comics. The long-form narrative offers the public the opportunity to develop a more intimate relationship with the characters, the intrigues and the general framework of future television programs, by developing the characters that the public has familiar with the adaptations of the film. Marvel Studios recently played with this episodic nature with the end of the cliffhanger of Avengers: Infinity War.
