Khabib Nurmagomedov "would be dead" if he got off the bus

NEW YORK – It looked like the former two-division UFC champion, Conor McGregor, wanted to get his hands on Khabib Nurmagomedov when he launched a trolley through a bus window in April.

But now, in his eyes in the criminal and civil fallout, McGregor is glad he did not do it.

"I just thank the Lord Jesus Christ that this man did not have the bullets to get off this bus," McGregor said at Thursday's press conference at Radio City Music Hall for UFC 229, on the 6th October in Las Vegas. "Because believe me – or that the bus door did not open – because if the bus door was open, this man would be dead now. This man would be in a box and I would be in a cell and we would not have this big fight in front of us.

Naturally, current lightweight champion Nurmagomedov (26-0 MMA, 10-0 UFC) sees things a little differently. As he explained – or tried to explain – he would have been perfectly happy to schedule an unauthorized meeting between his team-mates and McGregor's team, but the ex-champion did not respond to his posts on social networks.

McGregor (21-3 MMA, 9-1 UFC) is making fun of this claim and Nurmagomedov's crew brought him with him to New York.

"He came with 40 people and that shows his weakness," Nurmagomedov said. "This guy and I are going to be alone on October 6th."

McGregor promises to present Nurmagomedov to his fists in the most violent way possible, while Nurmagomedov plans to make the Irish star a real hassle.

Until now, both have been separated by security, UFC executives and the auto glass. But soon, it will change.

Fortunately, fans of the UFC can relive McGregor's attempt in everyday life as the coming days loom until the battle for hit titles.

"There are a lot of things I can talk about about this incident, the preparation and my emotions, but there are still a lot of situations going on, so I'm just here to participate in Las Vegas on October 6th. Vegas, Nevada, "McGregor said, adding one of the many plugs for his new whiskey. "The T-Mobile Arena, live à la carte, UFC 229. In association with McGregor Sports and Entertainment and Proper 12 Irish Whiskey."
