LAS VEGAS – Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor's lightweight title fight are official for UFC 229.
Nurmagomedov hit the scales barely a minute after the scheduled start of the official weigh-in at 9:00 am Pacific time at 155 pounds nose (via Twitter).
Nurmagomedov, 30, looked pale and drawn on the scale, but did not present any problems. It was the second time that he was reaching the goal for a title fight after a hefty weight loss forced him to retire from an Interim Fight. against Tony Ferguson at UFC 209.
McGregor, 30, McGregor weighed in at 10:06 and fell under the title limit to 154.5 pounds. He gave a celebratory scream and made a fist before going out quickly (via Twitter).
McGregor did not rule out the possibility of fighting Nurmagomedov in case the Dagestan fighter could not gain weight. But with his rival to the mark, he does not have to make concessions.
The lightweight title is one of the most anticipated fights in the history of the promotion. The UFC expects Saturday's pay-per-view event to shatter McGregor's purchase record against Nate Diaz at UFC 202.
The battle card takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, with preliminary fights on FS1 and the UFC Fight Pass containing the main PPV card.
