For the first time in 71 career games in the NFL, Khalil Mack will not play Sunday when the Bears host the Jets at Soldier Field.
After missing two training sessions and being limited in another while he was recovering from a right ankle injury this week, the Bears announced an hour and a half before the kickoff that Mack would not play.
Mack has an ankle injury during the October 14 game against the Dolphins. He finished that game and played in the defeat against the Patriots last week, but he had only three tackles in both games combined. This production took place after he had five sacks and four forced fumbles in his first four games while he was healthy for the Bears.
Mack worked lightly on the field about two hours before the match, but outside linebackers Kylie Fitts and Isaiah Irving will be in the shoes of the Bears. It's the first game that Mack will miss since he started his career with the Raiders in 2014.
The Bears wide receiver Allen Robinson is also inactive, while he is recovering from an injury to the groin. Robinson played against the Patriots, but he was not on the field at the end of the game.
He did not train on Wednesday and Thursday and was limited on Friday.
Due to his absence, Javon Wims, receiver of the Bears rookie, is active for his second career game.
The left guard of the bears, Eric Kush, is inactive and hurts his neck. Rookie James Daniels will start in the place of the left after his rotation with Kush in the last three games.
Back Michael Burton, cornerback Marcus Cooper, offensive lineman Rashaad Coward and defensive lineman Nick Williams are also inactive for the Bears.
