NEW YORK – The man accused of killing the girl known as "Baby Hope" has died in custody.
The government's correctional commission confirms that Conrado Juarez died in a hospital in Rockland County over the weekend.
Juarez, 57, has been awaiting trial since his arrest in 2013.
He was charged with the murder of his cousin Angelica Castillo, aged 4, in 1991.
The body of the girl was found in a cooler located in a wooded area of Upper Manhattan.
His murder remained unresolved for more than two decades.
The detectives called him "Baby Hope" until DNA tests confirmed his identity.
