Kings' rookie, Marvin Bagley, says he's better than Deandre Ayton, the NBA's first choice.

The Sacramento Kings made a somewhat controversial decision in selecting Duke's Marvin Bagley III product with the second overall pick in the June NBA Draft. While most expect Bagley to be a solid professional, the general consensus is that Luka Doncic, who finished third, then traded to the Dallas Mavericks, has a chance to be a talent once in a generation. .

Deandre Ayton, the player who beat both, has the physique and skills to be a big man who changes the franchise rules for the Phoenix Suns. As the project approached, it was clear that the Suns preferred Ayton, but according to Bagley, they should have spent a little more time watching him.

Our Reid Forgrave asked Bagley of the club's seat, CBS Sports, who was the best player, he or Ayton, and Bagley did not hesitate to give his answer. Watch the full interview right here or in the video player above.

"I would say it myself," Bagley said. "Obviously, I trust my game. I like Deandre as a brother, but I'm going to have to go with myself, I think I'm the best player."

It's really not a surprise – most recruits probably think they are the best player on the project – but Bagley could have stayed confident and kept the feeling to himself. The fact that he feels offended, even as choice # 2, could serve as a motivation as he embarks on a long and successful career in the NBA.

For what it's worth (not much), Ayton is averaging 22.5 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks in two pre-season games. Bagley had seven points, two rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal in his only pre-season match, which turned out to be against Ayton's Suns.

Kings and Suns are in the same division. So we are going to witness a lot of clashes between Ayton and Bagley this season and beyond. Bagley's comments will make us pay more attention to the individual battle.
