NEW YORK – Rookie forward Kevin Knox left the New York Knicks' game against the Boston Celtics on Saturday night, with an apparent left ankle injury late in the first quarter.
Knox was driving to the basket taking advantage of a quick release opportunity under the supervision of Terry Rozier and seemed to roll at the ankle. He fell to the court and lay down for a few moments while the crowd at Madison Square Garden was silent.
The rookie finally got up but had to be helped out of the field. Knox could not put weight on his ankle.
The Knicks then announced that Knox suffered a sprained left ankle. X-rays were negative.
Rozier was called for a foul on the game. Mitchell Robinson came into play and took the shots foul, missing the first and making the second to bring the score to 28-18 Celtics.
This is an important season for the development of Knox and any missed hour could be expensive. Knox scored 17 points in the defeat against the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night, and seems much more comfortable in the offensive.
