The Knights of Columbus in Pottsville were busy today distributing meals to many people.
News Eyewitness journalist Rachael Espaillat accompanied one of the meal deliveries and told the story of the family.
Jennifer Haller says it has been a difficult year for her and her family.
My husband was working and he had to get out of his gall bladder and he has had complications ever since, "said Haller.
Now she is the only one with an income and she did not think she could get a Thanksgiving meal.
She contacted the Salvation Army who directed her to the Knights of Columbus.
"I received an email from a lady who said her family needed help for Thanksgiving and asked that we be able to help her," said Mark Jago, MP for the night. from Columbus.
Jago, who is a Knights of Columbus chief, lives in Carlisle.
He decided to take an hour and a half drive to Pottsville to visit the Knights of Columbus branch and meet Jennifer.
"Seeing how an entire community would come out like this to help its neighbors is absolutely comforting," said Jago.
The Pottsville Council has been providing hot meals to families for over a decade.
Mark and his wife Janice came to visit Pottsville Council. Not only were they able to observe and volunteer. They personally delivered Jennifer's meal.
"I do not think she was expecting us so soon and that she was just leaving work, and she was probably surprised to see that the person to whom she had sent an email was the one who gave him the food, "said Jago.

"I put … What, 4 hours of work, but come in … Dinner served … it's really nice," Haller said.
Fifteen hundred volunteers prepared and distributed meals throughout the county to families like Jennifer.
"Very grateful, because without being able to help, we could not have organized a Thanksgiving dinner," said Haller.
Mark Jago says it would be more than happy to make another volunteer trip to the Pottsville Council for Thanksgiving.
The Pottsville Council reported serving more than 15 hundred meals during Thanksgiving.
