An early Halloween gift arrived in the form of news that the original stars of bad will gather to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Broadway smash.
Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth, who have played Oz residents and their old friends Elphaba and Glinda in the musical, will star in a special concert on Oct. 29 that will air on NBC. The event will feature songs of great musical success, with performances of the series' original dynamic duet, the current company of Broadway production, and special guests such as Ariana Grande and Pentatonix, and others should be announced .
"bad is a hit musical around the world and sold night after night after 15 years on Broadway, and we are excited to partner with Marc Platt, producer of Emmy and Tony and the entire WICKED team to celebrate success this show, "said Doug Vaughan, Executive Vice President, Special Programs and Late Night, NBC Entertainment in a press release. "We are especially pleased to have Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth together with great stars in front of an audience in costume, hopefully, to help us celebrate the Halloween season."
The show will take place at the Marquis Theater in New York and will be produced by Tony's original crew – Marc Platt, Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss, who will be director.
