PHILADELPHIA – A new lawsuit claims that the popular sparkling water LaCroix mistakenly claims it is "100% natural".

The lawsuit was filed against LaCroix's parent company, alleging that insecticides for cockroaches and other artificial ingredients are used in the drink, which is reported as "all-natural," reported KYW-TV.

The complaint, filed in the name of Lenora Rice, claimed that the tests had revealed that LaCroix contained a number of artificial ingredients, including linalool. He also said that the parent company, National Beverage, was aware of synthetic chemicals and was "intentionally misleading to consumers".

The company denied the charges, saying the complaint was filed "without any factual or legal basis for the natural composition of its LaCroix sparkling waters".

The lawsuit seeks to prevent the beverage company from promoting LaCroix as a natural product and to award damages to customers who purchased the beverage on the assumption that it contained "all-natural" ingredients.

According to CBS Philadelphia, the lawsuit states:

"Applicant Rice, desiring a healthy and natural beverage, was forced to purchase LaCroix sparkling water because of claims made on her packaging, advertisement and website that she was" innocent "," naturally drained "," all natural "and" always 100% natural. However, LaCroix actually contains ingredients that have been identified as synthetic by the Food and Drug Administration. These chemicals include limonene, which can cause kidney toxicity and tumors; linalool propionate, used to treat cancer; and linalool, which is used in the cockroach insecticide. "

National Beverage Corp responded to the complaint, dismissing all allegations.

In a statement, the company said:

"The natural flavors of LaCroix are derived from the natural essential oils of the named fruit used in each of the flavors. There are no sugars or artificial ingredients contained in, nor added to, these extracted flavors. All species contained in LaCroix are certified 100% natural by our suppliers. "

He went on to say:

"The lawsuit has no support for its misrepresentation of LaCroix's ingredients. The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) considers that the "natural" indication on a food label is true and not misleading when "nothing artificial or synthetic (including all coloring additives, regardless of source) has been added or added. "All LaCroix product labels include an ingredient declaration stating that each product contains carbonated water and natural flavors. National Beverage remains true to this statement of ingredients and the fact that all LaCroix flavor essences are natural. "

Counsel for the plaintiff stated that the people who bought LaCroix and want to be added to their list should call 773-831-8000.
