Lake in the Hills restaurant owner shot dead on Chicago's Northwest Side

The owner of two restaurants in the Lake of the Hills was shot to death on Saturday morning, according to police.

Peter Rim, 46, suffered a blow to the head when someone in a SUV pulled up and opened fire in the 4100 block of West Diversey Street around 6:45 am, police said.

The gunman said something before firing but Rim, who was suffering from hearing loss. They did not know if that was why he was shot.

Rim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:57 am, according to the Cook County Medical Examination Office. He had lived in the 100 block of Farmington Road in South Barrington.

Rim owned two nearby restaurants in Lake in the Hills, Wasabi Bistro and El Cochino.
