Hyundai announced Monday that Luc Donckerwolke, executive vice president of its design center, will replace Peter Schreyer as head of design for Hyundai. This will give Donckerwolke creative control over the design direction of the Hyundai, Kia and Genesis brands.
Donckerwolke – the designer of the Lamborghini Murcielago – will be in charge of the "exotic" sports car project from Hyundai, whose existence was confirmed Thursday by Thomas Schemera to a Dutch publication.
"Behind the scenes, we are working hard on a" flagship "model of the N brand," said Schemera in an interview with AutoRAI. "This is going to be a great machine, something no one expects from Hyundai, something really exotic."
Donckerwolke himself confirmed the car in January, when Yang Woong Chul, vice president of research and development at Hyundai, said the unnamed supercar would be primarily powered by electricity, though it will still have of an onboard internal combustion engine. Schemera did not know if the vehicle would be a limited edition product or not.
"Whether it's a limited edition or not, we unfortunately can neither confirm nor deny.In any case, it will be a super sports car segment." Think about the Hyundai RM16 and you have a little idea of what's possible, "concluded Schemera.
The Hyundai RM16 N was a mid-engined sports hatchback presented in 2016 and closely related to the RN30 concept (see above). Observations of roughly Veloster-shaped test mules with centrally mounted engines continued until 2018; One of these vehicles was filmed in test at the Nürburgring in June.
