Palestinians in the northern West Bank claim that a woman was killed after being hit in the head by a stone thrown by Israeli settlers.

A family member said Aisha Rabi, 48, was traveling with her husband and two daughters home to Bidya early Saturday when their vehicle was pounded with stones.

Her cousin, Isam Rabi, claims to have been beaten in the head and taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. He says that her husband saw a small group of settlers nearby.

Israeli police say she is investigating.

The region is close to several ultra-nationalist Jewish settlements.

Last Sunday, a Palestinian assailant killed two Israelis in a nearby settlement. And on Thursday, a Palestinian stabbed and injured an Israeli soldier, evoking the possibility of a revenge attack.

Palestinian health officials said Israeli forces shot dead six Palestinians, including four in a single incident, on one of the deadliest days in months of mass demonstrations along the Gaza-Israel security fence.

Gaza's health ministry said Friday that four people were killed in one place. The Israeli army said it opened fire on a crowd of Palestinians who broke through the fence and approached an army post. No Israeli army was injured, the army added.

Two other Palestinians were killed at other demonstration sites, the ministry added, adding at least 140 Palestinians wounded by live ammunition.

Since March, Hamas has orchestrated almost weekly protests along the fence.

The Israeli army said 14,000 Palestinians had gathered Friday in fenced areas.
