Rethink Mental Therapy will host a welcome session at the Wilmslow Library on Monday, November 26th from 5pm to 7pm, to allow people to learn about their peer support groups run by volunteers.

The national charity supports more than 130 local peer support groups in England, led by people with their own experience of mental health issues and / or caregivers and their family members.

Groups are set up to provide empathy, acceptance and comfort and to be a place where people can share their experiences, receive advice from peers in similar situations and increase their self-esteem.

Rethinking Mental Illness offers a range of support services to individuals who wish to create their own peer support groups. They also have access to staff, training, and promotional and fundraising activities. Groups are also encouraged to participate in national campaigns and organize their own campaigns if they wish.

There are already several peer support groups in Cheshire where people come together through informal support and friendship groups.

Polly, Rethinking Mental Illness, Group Member, commented, "It's great to be part of a group of people who understand what a parent with mental health issues is – they support me and do not think about it. what I'm going through are strange, would not you like that kind of support? "

Everyone is invited to have coffee and talk. Alternatively, you can contact by e-mail or by phone at 01823 365327.
