This week, after an independent review, NASA announces a new launch date for the telescope James Webb Space: March 30, 2021 at the earliest. This telescope is the long-awaited successor of the Hubble Space Telescope. The announcement comes just three months after a delayed launch announced between 2019 and 2020. The project – led by NASA with partners, the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Canadian Space Agency – was reviewed internally earlier this year. NASA then set up an independent review panel to evaluate the progress of the telescope, in collaboration with ESA and the Canadian Space Agency. In a statement, NASA said:
The board evaluated a number of factors, from technical challenges to the remaining tasks leading up to the launch, and unanimously recommended that development on the project should continue.
However, he spoke:
… a series of factors influencing the timing and performance of Webb, including the technical challenges and remaining tasks of the main contractor Northrop Grumman prior to its launch.
NASA explained:

The new total life cycle cost of the telescope, in support of the revised launch date, is estimated at $ 9.66 billion; its estimated new development cost is $ 8.8 billion

The next step is now:
… to complete the extensive battery of tests on the Webb spacecraft element. Once done, it will be integrated with the other half of the observatory: the telescope and the module of scientific instruments. This module, which completed its tests last year, includes NIRSpec and MIRI instruments – part of Europe's contribution to the observatory.
