For the first time in the history of the US Army Command (FORSCOM), a woman will lead the most important command of the army, representing 776,000 soldiers and 96,000 civilians.

This may be a first for the Army, but Richardson has had others.

She has been part of the US Army since 1986 and in 2012 she became the first female Deputy Commander at the 1st Cavalry Division, known as the "First Team of America".
In 2017, she became second in command of General Robert B. Abrams, when she was named FORSCOM's first female Deputy Commander in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, announced the US Army.
Now, Richardson will become the first woman commander of the US FORSCOM army while Abrams resigns from his post, reported CNN affiliate, WTVD.
On Tuesday, Abrams announced that he would leave his post to become commander of the US Armed Forces in Korea. The message of farewell was tweeted by FORSCOM.

"It's an honor to serve these past three years as commanding general, US Army Forces Command," reads Abrams' message.

Abrams also thanked the soldiers of FORSCOM for their work, as it reinforces "the readiness of our army in the three components: regular army, national army guard and army reserve. American ".

During his career, Richardson was an army aviator, military assistant to the vice president, and an army liaison officer to the United States Senate.
