Law and Order: SVU star Kelli Giddish awaits second child

Kelli Giddish has another kid on the way!

On Thursday, the Law and order: SVU The actress attended the Tribeca TV Festival in New York, where the 20th season of the NBC crime drama was premiered.

While on the carpet, Giddish confirmed to E! News that she was expecting her second child with her husband, Lawrence Faulborn. The couple already share the two year old son Ludo, whom they welcomed in October 2015.

The 38-year-old mother – who showed her baby at the premiere of the season in a floral dress – will remain on stage as detective Amanda Rollins and her pregnancy will be inscribed in her character's screenplay.

This would be the second time that the actress has her real life written in SVU. In season 17, while Giddish was pregnant with Ludo, the show explored a controversial plot where her character became pregnant with her former commander, Lieutenant Declan Murphy.

Since welcoming Ludo in 2015, Giddish has documented many adorable family moments on Instagram, sharing photos of her son on her first day of school, on vacation and even in Captain America's costume.

SVU has been on the air since 1999 and starring members of the cast, Mariska Hargitay and Ice-T, as detectives of the New York Police Victims Unit. Many of the cases involve sexual assault, rape and murder, and are often based on headlines.

Other actors came and went during the 19 years of the series, including Christopher Meloni (who played Detective Elliot Stabler for the first 12 seasons), Danny Pino and most recently Raúl Esparza. Giddish joined the show in 2011 during his 13th season.

In May, NBC renewed the series for a 20th season, linking it as the longest series in the history of television. This is also the longest scripted unmuted primetime series.

Law and order: SVU returns to NBC on Thursday, September 27 at 9 pm ET.
