Cincinnati will try to complete his first Dodgers sweep when Anthony DeSclafani debuts at the Great American Ball Park. The Reds 6-0 against defending champions this year have slowed their pursuit for a playoff spot this season. Ross Stripling starts for Los Angeles. Franchises are played since the 1880s, dating from the days of the Dodgers in Brooklyn. Cincinnati is the first time they have not won at least twice.

Peter Alonso will join the Mets at Citi Field, but not in uniform. The unmissable New Yorker will be recognized as one of the players of the Minor Team of the Year. The first baseman hit 36 homers and led the miners with 119 RBIs between Double-A and Triple-A, but New York declined the call when enrollment increased in September. The Mets have cited the lack of playing time available for Alonso, who is not yet on the list of 40 players. The fans were furious, having hoped that another month of September could give a boost to one of the best hopes of the team.

Left-handed Blake Snell wins his 19th victory over Cleveland. Snell is 18-5, a year after starting 5-7. Carlos Carrasco (16-8) calls on the Indians, who have a magic number of three to win their third consecutive title in Central AL.
