Leah Remini claimed that Tom Cruise was aware of the abuses within the Church of Scientology, even going so far as to say that he is "part of it".

Remini, 48, told the Daily Beast that Cruise, one of the highest-ranking members of the church, had received special treatment from Scientologists. The star of the "King of Queens" was a member of the church but left in 2013. She is now a declared opponent of Scientology and has spoken to other former members in her series "Scientology and the Aftermath ", winner of an Emmy Award.

"Scientologists are told that Tom Cruise is saving the world on his own. He is therefore considered a deity within Scientology. He is second to David Miscavige – the savior of the free world. Tom is even called "Mr. Cruise" by the staff members, "she told Beast.

The star of "Kevin Can Wait" also claimed that Scientologists ensured that Cruise did not see material containing "something that disparages Scientology."

"They will go as far as, if he will walk in a certain place, they will make sure there are no anti-Scientology magazines, so he can not see it," she said.

Remini explained that she thought others thought Cruise was "an innocent victim in all of this," but said that the actor "Mission Impossible" is very much aware of what is happening to inside the church.

"As far as Tom is concerned, it's very different," she said. "He is very aware of the abuses committed in Scientology. He is part of it.

Remini credited Cruise status and his knowledge of abuses in the church to his close relationship with Miscavige. She said that the star "Top Gun" was "not in the same category as the average Scientologist".

She also claimed that a church interior official had told her that Miscavige had ordered Cruise to administer a punishment to a senior member.

"The Church rejects all of Leah Remini's allegations as false," the church said in a statement sent to Fox News. "The interview is a publicity stunt to promote its fake reality show.As long as the entertainment media will print Leah Remini's lies, her anti-religious fanaticism will have a voice, and her hate has disastrous consequences. Last week, for example, the FBI released a report showing the alarming rise in hate-motivated crime in the United States, including one in five due to religious fanaticism, Remini did everything in its power to incite hatred and harm innocent people.

Cruise, meanwhile, has already been criticized for its association with the controversial religion. In the 2015 documentary titled "Going Clear: Scientology and Conviction Prison," former members claimed that they were asked to help "facilitate" the breakup between him and Nicole Kidman, who was not a Scientologist.
