LOS ANGELES – LeBron James beat Wilt Chamberlain – another great player who joined the Los Angeles Lakers in the final stages of his career – to finish fifth on the NBA scorers list on Thursday against the Portland Trail Blazers.
James tied Chamberlain on a runner and-1 with 3:55 left in the fourth quarter and went on to the free kick that followed. James finished the game with 44 points – Laker's highest number since Kobe Bryant scored 60 in his career final – and now has 31,425 points for his career. He added 10 rebounds and nine assists in the 126-117 win in Los Angeles.
Los Angeles has come a long way since their loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.
The Lakers suffered a major defeat on Wednesday night when Rajon Rondo broke his hand.

The next hero is James's hero, Michael Jordan, fourth with 32,292 points. If James maintains his season average of 26.4 points per game and does not miss any match due to rest or injury, he should move Jordan late January.
