Two of Hollywood's biggest players are encouraging voters to go to the polls for the mid-term elections.

In a video released today by NowThis News, actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt spoke about the importance of voting on November 6th.

"The future of our country will be decided this week," DiCaprio said in the video. "Elections count not only in the presidential vote, this election could be the most decisive in our lives," he added, noting that issues such as firearms safety laws, immigration policy, water and clean air and access to health care were at stake.

Pitt explained that these issues are decided by different levels of government, including "the House of Representatives in the Senate for dozens of governors".

"State House elections will determine the future of climate change, criminal justice reform, education funding, the equality of LGBTQ people and even the your voting capacity, "he added.

The two actors, who both play in Quentin Tarantino's film "Once upon a time in Hollywood," urged viewers not only to vote, but also to encourage voter turnout.

NowThis News political correspondent Zinhle Essamuah presented the rest of the video with a detailed explanation of this year's mid-term elections.

DiCaprio and Pitt are not the only celebrities to have drawn attention to Tuesday's election.

Oprah Winfrey was in Georgia on Thursday to campaign for governor candidate Stacey Abrams.
