ORCHARD PARK, NY – Jacksonville Jaguars midfielder Leonard Fournette and Buffalo Bills defensive end Shaq Lawson have been sent off for fighting at the end of the third quarter of Sunday's game at New Era Field .
Fournette and Lawson exchanged punches against the wall near the end zone as part of a scrum that started when Jaguars receiver Dede Westbrook pushed Micah Hyde to the safety of the Bills after the conclusion of a passing game on the line of 1 Bills.
Lawson and Fournette also had to be separated as they were coming out at the same time through the Bills tunnel alone. As Fournette entered the tunnel, a fan in the front row made contact with him and Fournette briefly confronted him. A police officer nearby intervened.
The fight began after Jaguars receiver Donte Moncrief and Bills cornerback Levi Wallace fought the ball over a deep pass. Both players refused to drop the ball after going to the ground. An official tried to separate the two players and that's when Westbrook came and pushed Hyde.
The Moncrief catch was initially qualified as touchdown, but was reversed for a take that went out of line limits to 1 yard after examination. The Bills did not allow the Jaguars to score in the next four games, including a Jaguars penalty kickdown, before Jaguar kicker Josh Lambo missed a 42-yard touchdown to maintain the match. tied 14-14.
Fournette was among the multiple players of both teams who rushed and a lot of jostling followed. It is unclear how Fournette and Lawson got entangled together, but both ended up punching each other.
