Leonard Fournette suspended his match for leaving the opponent

The NFL suspended the match from Leonard Fournette for leaving the sideline after a play in which the former LSU halfback was not a participant on Sunday and had hit an opposing player. The league announced the suspension Monday (November 26).

In a letter to Fournette from Jon Runyan, vice-president of NFL football operations, Runyan wrote:

"Fair play is the cornerstone of the game and the league will not tolerate game-related faults that would reflect a lack of respect for the game itself and for the people involved. The video of the incident shows that you did not participate in the game and that you ran from your sideline to the opposite side of the field to enter as an active participant in a fight. Once you have entered the combat zone, you have hit a member of the opposing team. Your actions have had a negative impact on the NFL and have no place in the game. "

Sunday's third quarter games ended near the goal line. After the game, Fournette left the sideline of the Jacksonville Jaguars and approached Buffalo Bills' Shaq Lawson defense. The two men exchanged blows while still wearing their helmets. Immediately after, officials expelled Fournette and Lawson. After leaving the field, they had to be separated again in the tunnel leading to their respective locker rooms.

After the match, Fournette apologized for his role in the fight when he spoke with reporters. He also posted a message of apology on social media.

Fournette has played three games since returning from a thigh injury that prevented him from playing two games in the first nine weeks of the season. He had his best game this season before ejection. Against the Bills, he ran 18 times for 95 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught three passes for 13 yards.

Fournette will be eligible to return to the active lineup of the Jaguars on December 3, the league announced. It's a day after the Jaguars clashed Sunday against the Colts of Indianapolis.
