Leonid's meteors to light up the weekend could become "stormy"

Alex Stockwell, our presenter of Spectrum News, then reported seeing another meteor flying in the sky as he made his way to work around 3am.

This year, the Leonids show, named after the constellation Leo, will be visible from Saturday night to evening (November 17) to Sunday, November 18 at dawn.

"Twenty meteors an hour should probably break the summit, which makes it more active than the recent meteor shower Taurid," said Dave Samuhel, AccuWeather's blogger. This happens when the Earth moves on the orbital trajectory of the Tempel-Tuttle comet. Just face north or northwest and look up. The meteors seem to fly away from a point in Leo's sickle (hence the name "Leonids").

Even if you are in an area polluted by light, you may be able to see meteors at the height of the shower.

You can see the Leonids between noon and 6 am in the time zone of November 17th and 18th.

Although a meteor storm is not planned for this year Leonidsit is possible that we can sneak into a pocket of undetected dense dust that quickly turns into flames in our atmosphere, which gives a whole show. Some years, there are thousands of meteors an hour, it's been dramatic for years. The shower will not be powerful enough to be called storm, but it will still be an impressive show.

According to Margaret Campbell-Brown and Peter Brown in the 2018 Observatory Manual of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, the Earth will pass at 7 pm in the thickest part of Leonids' swarm . November 17th, EST (23:00 GMT). We saw so many meteors that they seemed to fall like a rain. the Meteor Leonid will be visible to the naked eye, but it is always advisable to wear a pair of binoculars for a clear and close vision.
