LEXINGTON, KY. (WKYT) – This weekend, breast cancer survivors will be celebrated in downtown Lexington during the 2018 Susan G. Komen Healing Race.
Amber Philpott and Sam Dick, the presenters of WKYT, will both be present to celebrate and encourage those who participate in their own fight.
Breast cancer will be diagnosed in one in eight women during her lifetime, but you probably did not know that men were not immune to this deadly disease.
In 2014, Amber told the story of a Lexington man who survived breast cancer and proudly wears "his" pink on the morning of the race.
It's been six years since Mike Davis heard three words that changed his life forever, you have cancer. In 2012, he was diagnosed with breast cancer in humans.
Davis undergoes mammography and surgery to remove his tumor and undergoes treatment. He is now a survivor after fighting and winning.
This year, the American Cancer Society announced that nearly 2,600 men would be diagnosed with breast cancer. Davis turned his diagnosis into an educational tool for other men and he also found a way to get involved and give back to Komen Kentucky.
