ZEBULON, Ga. – Linebacker Dylan Thomas of Pike County High School was seriously injured in Friday night's game against Peach County.

The players, coaches and supporters of both teams gathered in the field to pray, while Thomas was out of the field before the game resumed.

Thomas was rushed to the WellStar Spalding Regional Hospital before being transferred to the Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta for treatment. He was operated a few hours later.

He remains hospitalized in a coma. Few other medical information has been published regarding his condition.

Nick Burgess, Dylan's uncle, said in an article published on social media Sunday morning that the situation was bad.

"Dylan Thomas is in critical condition and we will not know until 12 am," he said in a message. "If he succeeds or not from now, his brain will swell again, even if he manages to get out of all odds, he will never be the same again."

"We are very concerned about Dylan, but we are a loyal community and we will surround the carts for this family," said Pike County School Superintendent Michael Duncan at 11Alive News Sunday morning.

A vigil of prayer will take place for Thomas at 18h. at the Pike County High School track.
